Antiquities Act of 1906 (by Kylie Olkowsi)

The Antiquities Act, also known as “An Act for the Preservation of American Antiquities”, prohibits the removal of archeological remains. It was signed into law by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. This Act resulted from politicians who wanted to preserve prehistory, and protect these nonrenewable resources. Any person who violates this act can be imprisoned or fined.
